The crew takes a backpacking trip over to the windy streets of Munich, Germany
where they seek out the thriving underground surf culture that exists even though there is no beaches anywhere.
After a 6 hour flight, 2 underground subway rides, and a half hour of longboarding we finally come to the
address given to Us by all of the locals. (Marstallstraße 3, 80539 München, Germany in case you were interested)
At this point we saw a crowd gathering along a a seemingly random inner city bridge and we just had to get a
closer look to see what all the buzz was about. As we approached the bridge we were totally taken back by the
overwhelming amount of barefoot German surfers that lined the sides of this river waiting for their turn to
take the drop.
At this point the spot had finally lived up to the hype as we had reached the hidden Mecca of surfing.
The Urban Surf Culture of Munich, Germany.

I’m a rider …Not a writer
We sat on the bank of the muddy river for hours watching what seemed to be the perfect
endless wave. This wave was about 3-5 feet in height and was originally constructed
totally by accident by German engineers looking to slow the flow of the Eisbach River.
They installed a cement hump on the bottom along the bed of the river that forced
the water to slow as it went towards the city centre. It is unknown by at least the
Munich locals as to who was the first rider of the eternal wave but at this point
it has become one must see spot if you love the surf culture as much as I do.
This endless break allows surfers that ride goofy or regular to pick there right
drop or left drop as the wave does not discriminate but riders be aware that after
you “eat it” you will have to be prepared to paddle to the nearest side as the river
takes you down stream.
Are both goofy and regular to pick a side and make the drop.
The best part about this synthetic wave is that is never ends so that riders get
to enjoy this hidden gem from sun up to sun down or until their legs got too tired
to stand anymore.
So if you don’t like to paddle out and you don't mind suiting up in a 5-4 with a
hood to bear the frigid cold
Water then make your way down to the Eisbach River to ride one of Europe best waves.
Take a trip to munich, germany where the Beer is cold and the wave is endless.
